We are now pleased to be able to offer a brand new CT referral service which runs from our purpose built CT suite at our Berkeley House branch.
The CT scanner uses a series of rapidly taken x-rays to produce a detailed 3D image which allows for a more detailed interpretation than a traditional 2D x-ray. CT scanning is an incredibly powerful tool and the level of detail assists our vets with diagnosis and treatment plans for patients.
Images from the scan are sent away for specialist interpretation which usually takes a few days although a more urgent interpretation can be arranged where appropriate. Results are sent back to the referral vet who will then contact you with the results.
When is a CT scan appropriate?
Here is a list of conditions which CT scanning is commonly used for:
- Orthopaedic assessments including complex fractures
- Spinal problems
- Lung and chest problems
- Porto-systemic shunt
- Nasal problems
- Ear disease
This list is not comprehensive so if you feel you have a case where CT scanning may be beneficial please feel free to contact us on 01905 756156.
