Surgery

Operations take place Monday to Friday with admission appointments from 8.30am to 9.30am. Most patients are able to return home the same day. We strongly recommend the use of pre-operative blood testing to help minimise risks associated with anaesthesia and surgery.

We use the most up to date and safe anaesthetics, and all patients are given appropriate drugs to control pain. To make anaesthesia as safe as possible all patients are monitored individually by a qualified veterinary nurse, using sophisticated electronic equipment when needed.

Severn Veterinary Centre offers a fully comprehensive surgical service. Our experienced team are not only able to perform routine procedures such as neutering, lump removals and dentals, but with our two RCVS advanced practitioners in surgery (orthopaedic and soft tissue) we can also perform many more advanced procedures without the need for referral to another practice.

We have a full range of diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, CT scanner, endoscopes, digital x-ray to support our surgical service. Certain procedures may even be performed using keyhole techniques.
